Video: Bale and Nolan on Ledger in The Dark Knight

One of the consistent messages that we’ve been hearing from those close to the production of The Dark Knight is that the performance from the late Heath Ledger is something special. While at ShoWest last week promoting the film, director Christopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale talked at great length about Ledger’s dark, very serious performance. The Associated Press gives us the following video:

I can’t even begin to express how excited I am for this particular film. It is easy to allow my attention to be diverted to early summer blockbusters like Iron Man, Speed Racer and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I am always somehow reminded of the film that could very well steal the entire summer. Everyone around here is certainly looking forward to the next Dark Knight trailer, said to be on its way sometime in late-March, early-April. We will keep you posted.

The Dark Knight is directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins) and is being distributed by Warner Brothers. It stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman. It hits theaters on July 18th.
