Ladies: Eugene’s most eligible bachelor

Jay Klein is not used to being the center of attention, but as Eugene’s most eligible bachelor, he’s getting plenty of it. “I’ve been jabbed in the ribs so many times by friends and coworkers I can probably loosen a rib and make a girlfriend out of it,” Klein, associate director of development for the law school, said.

[...] This is the first article of music journalism that I might have published! In my college newspaper yes. But I am still so excited. Its rough BUT I am just happy to start doing this work and I will keep at it and improve. /gushing about articleTiffany Randol visits the Jittery CaféBy Jocelyn ThomasJittery Live Café welcomed back Tiffany Randol for her second visit to Smith College as their first performer for the semester. Randol first came to Smith last fall to perform at Talbot House’s Winter Weekend celebration. Away from Smith, Randol has recently been racking up accolades. According to her official website (www.tiffanyrandol.com) the singer-songwriter has “performed on FOX Good Day NY and Fearless Music TV on multiple occasions. Other recent accomplishments include recognition as a new up and coming writer for ‘07 from The Songwriters Hall of Fame, the licensing of “Me and You” for the feature film “Fat Girls”, and the award of ‘Best Film Score’ at the Long Island Film Festival for “Meg’s Song,” an independent feature starring Stella Keitel.”Sara Wyatt ‘11 who sits both on the Campus Center Activities Board and works as a street team manager for Randol and was responsible for brining her to campus both times.Wyatt first met Randol through a self expression workshop that the singer coached this past summer. Afterwards the singer asked the soon to be Smithie to join her street team. As Wyatt puts it “I volunteered to be her Street Team Manager. She couldn’t say no.”Randol played an hour and half long set Thursday night. Her set list was a mixture of original tunes and covers. Randol is hardly the conventional singer song writer however. Yes her most of her songs dealt with lovethe polyamorous kind. Several times during the performance Randol talked about her new mantra, one that she hoped the audience would take to heart and take out into the world: Freedom, Love, and Play. This mantra is woven into the cover art for Randol’s EP Kiss Me Kiss Me.Randol’s career has seen her as the frontwoman of a “riotous rock five piece, Valeze” and as the front woman to the punkish band Tiffany and the MFs. Yes that means what you think it does. Kiss Me Kiss Me is a part of Randol’s latest solo effort. An effort that seems to be going over pretty well inside the Grecourt Gates. Jittery’s hosted a pretty large and eclectic audience, with many of Randol’s Talbot House fans coming out to support their new favorite it girl. One such fan, Ranger, a sophomore in Talbot House, described the performance as “great. I love Tiffany. Her song “Half a Second” was fantastic and probably the highlight of her performance.” “Half a Second” was a favorite amongst several in the house that nightincluding this reporter. As well as “Hush, Don’t Cry” were some of street team manager, Sara Wyatt’s favorite performances of the night.Wyatt’s plans for Randol’s next Northampton/Smith performances might include “5 College Spring Concert (really new idea), Talbot House Winter Weekend, Smith Radio, Northampton Radio, Iron Horse… the World!” Randol can be found all over the internet including through myspace, her personal website, facebook, and the EP Kiss Me Kiss Me can be purchased online from iTunes. And of course Youtube Videos!!Live performance of her song “Kiss Me Kiss Me”The song that’s featured in this article “Half A Second”Usefull links: Sm3, Spiderwick chronicles trailer, Berlingske tidene, The smashing pumpkins, Galaxy cinemas [...]
